About Loud and Clear: I want this book to empower you to write feedback that parents will want to read. And you’ll pick up some tidbits on Chinese culture along the way.
After covering the principles I use to write useful feedback, I show you samples of how I word feedback in specific situations. I hope that this info will help you find your own unique voice and leave feedback that is useful, realistic, and inspiring. When you deliver an AMAZING experience both in the classroom and in the feedback box, parents tend to reciprocate with rave reviews or re-bookings.

This book is my new best resource. I refer to it everyday!

This book is fantastic! I was also hesitant to buy this at first. However, Ed clearly frames forthcoming and effective feedback. The tone is warm, encouraging and firm. Perfect for online teaching! He illustrates every single type of student you could possibly encounter. He details specific behaviors in the class, and how to approach them kindly. If one of your students doesn’t fit one type, mentioned in this book, then you can easily blend a few together to figure out how to address the parent and student.
In the PDF form, it is so easy to CMMD F your way through, if you do not have time to sit and read. I can promise you that you can enter any single behavior you observe and find information one it. Ed has covered, what I can only imagine, is EVERYTHING.
Also, you will see MANY questions in FB groups about things that are covered in this book! I so often find myself wanting to simply answer a post with “You need to get Ed’s book!”
Thank you, Ed!

This book has helped me to know what to look for during class. It has helped me to personalize my feedback and identify student strengths and areas where improvement is needed.

Great book! Full of helpful information for many different scenarios! My feedback has been changed forever as I am better able to give more concise and specific feedback and address what the parents are looking for as well as give student usable feedback. Thanks Ed!

This book has totally changed the way I feel about writing feedback! I’ve always felt like it was a waste of my time writing and the parent’s time reading it if I just repeated what the lesson objectives were. For me, it is actually easier to tell mom and dad WHY the student needs to master a skill. Then I can guide them as to HOW! This book is amazing!!!!! Now I have a clear purpose writing feedback. If I am at a lost on how to phrase something, I just refer to this book! You name it, it’s in there! THANK YOU!

I’m still reading this book, but I’m already starting to apply some of the principles to my feedback. I love how rich the feedback suggestions are in this book. It’s actually helping my teaching as well, especially with regulars, on new ways to extend and ways to review important concepts. Thank you, Ed, for putting this together. It’s been incredibly helpful so far!

LOVE this book What a great resource. Wish I had ordered it sooner. Thank you Ed for wonderful insight to Chinese culture and how to address issues thru our online teaching.

I found Ed’s book very helpful. I especially enjoyed getting to know more about my students’ culture and language. I already had mostly regulars and a great feedback average but I despise feedback and needed some ideas to freshen things up. In the end my average holds steady, but my feedback is more heartfelt and less stressful to write.

Since reading the expanded edition, I have begun to change the way I do feedback. I have a better feel for what to look for and note in my comments to students and parents. I am not using pre-generated feedback as much and have started writing them all from scratch which does take some extra time. This will get quicker the more I practice. The information is very, very good and highly recommended.

I reference this book constantly being a new teacher so I provide the parents with the best feedback regarding classes and their kids, the same feedback I would want as a parent (pretty much why you wrote the book you said haha!) The sections have also pointed out things I can do better as a teacher too! Thanks! I only regret not buying it sooner!
