Description
I want this book to empower you to write feedback that parents will want to read. And you’ll pick up some tidbits on Chinese culture along the way.
After covering the principles I use to write useful feedback, I show you samples of how I word feedback in specific situations. I hope that this info will help you find your own unique voice and leave feedback that is useful, realistic, and inspiring. When you deliver an AMAZING experience both in the classroom and in the feedback box, parents tend to reciprocate with rave reviews.
I also have an Expanded Edition of this book, available here!

I’d like to recommend this book to anyone working in the Online ESL world. If you are teaching English online then you are most likely asked to leave written feedback for each class that you teach. Ed’s personal experience plays a major role in his ability to understand the way Chinese parents think and what they expect from the ESL Teachers. You’ll learn how to correctly praise your students, how to point out their weaknesses politely and help them improve.
To summarize, this is THE book to read if you are teaching English Online and the two main points are Why do we leave Feedback and How should we do it. If you want to receive more positive feedback from the parents (clients) and increase your booking rate, please consider purchasing the book.
Happy Teaching!

This book has helped me understand why I am teaching what I am teaching. I am more aware of what is and isn’t happening in a lesson. Now, my feedback is uplifting and supportive. I concentrate on the positive. I am a lot happier writing this kind of feedback. It makes more sense.

This book is extremely help for writing feedback to Chinese parents. I really appreciate the positive and gentle spin Ed uses to address negative things. The surprise benefit of this book to me was the better understanding it gave me of why we teach certain things and certain ways. I don’t have an ESL background. I have learned and figured out some tricks that work for me in ESL classes, but Ed’s book helped me better understand the why and how and to explain the why and the how to parents. Thanks Ed!

Ed’s feedback book took me from a teacher that had taught a lot of students, to a teacher who has regulars every week! My “frenzy” is usually less than ten students because I book out so quickly with regulars. This book made me not only feel competent at doing feedback but it also gives me ideas of what to look out for in class. I ENJOY feedback now! Thank you, Ed!!!

Before this book I was just writing generic feedback that was copied and pasted. Wow this revolutionized my feedback! I now am deliberate and personal about pronunciation and strengths of the student. This was a quick read but really a great reference guide and very thorough! Worth every penny thank you!!!

I read this book 2 days ago, and have been choosing at least 1 form of pronunciation to work on in each lesson. I mention this in the feedback explaining what we did. Boom. I had 4 priority bookings today, and I’m just over 30 days into the job! Thanks Ed!!

This book is an incredible resource! It has changed not only the way I provide feedback but also the way I teach my kids. Ed has gone above and beyond to provide a resource for ESL teachers across the board! He educated you on best practices for providing feedback while also giving you insight into Chinese culture. I learned so much about how my feedback is viewed by parents and ways to word feedback so it is most clearly understood. He gives clear examples and speaks from a wealth of knowledge on the topic. Highly recommend to anyone working with children from China or in ESL in general!!

Ed’s book helped with those classes when you just don’t know what to say. I use it mostly for the more difficult situations. He helps you to put a positive spin on a child’s behavior or struggles in class to help the parents see the issues while also knowing you are telling them because you have the child’s best interest at heart.
