Description
I want this book to empower you to write feedback that parents will want to read. And you’ll pick up some tidbits on Chinese culture along the way.
After covering the principles I use to write useful feedback, I show you samples of how I word feedback in specific situations. I hope that this info will help you find your own unique voice and leave feedback that is useful, realistic, and inspiring. When you deliver an AMAZING experience both in the classroom and in the feedback box, parents tend to reciprocate with rave reviews.
I also have an Expanded Edition of this book, available here!

This is an amazing book! It is Such a great resource for new and old teachers. It helped me understand what parents are thinking and what I need to convey in my feedback to help their child. I can’t thank Ed enough for writing this book. It has helped me more than any other resource I have found and I am now getting five apples thanks to this book!

Ed Nace—thank you so much for your books and this page. I always thought my feedback was good enough, but two nights ago I was bored in a SNS and decided to purchase the book to see what I could learn. Your suggestions and experience made such clear sense to me, and I decided to block out time to try and craft feedback in your suggested way. I left Ed-ified (see what I did there?) feedback in the 28 classes I’ve taught since reading your book. As of right now, 15 of those have responded with 5 Apple feedback. MUCH higher than my usual average. Many of these are regulars who I know were satisfied with class but who have never left feedback before. Thank you so much. You are not only helping me be more successful at this job, you are also helping me deliver a higher quality product to our customers. I plan on purchasing the expanded edition today!

Within just the first few pages, I knew I’d be implementing the strategies in Loud and Clear. Ed’s experience with teaching ESL and his first-hand knowledge of the Chinese culture make it very insightful. Reading it is like getting advice from a trusted friend. The information detailed in this book is so valuable for a newer teacher like myself (or for a seasoned teacher who desires a fresh approach in writing feedback). I will definitely be purchasing the expanded version, as soon as I am done reading his book on teaching, Above and Beyond.

Loud and Clear is an amazingly useful book! Ed gives plenty of examples to know what to write in feedback.
The most beneficial to me were reading about what Chinese parents find most helpful and reading real feedback written by Ed. This book was instrumental in assisting me in finding my own voice and providing feedback that is both helpful and appreciated by parents.

I wanted to share a bit of exciting news: my feedback rate for June was 9.1% and my feedback rate for July grew to 15%!
Now, I know this isn’t colossal growth or anything, but every point forward is worth celebrating ? there are 2 things that I did differently in July compared to June:
1. Bought, read, and applied Ed Nace’s book
2. Shifted my mindset from that of content-centric to student-centric
Excited to see what August brings!

Very helpful! Thank you!

I just wanted to thank Ed Nace! As a teacher who is newer to VIPKid (3 months), I was hesitant to buy the feedback and add “one more thing” to what I was already figuring out, but writing feedback was getting boring and I knew I wasn’t doing the best job. So yesterday I bought the book, read the entire thing and took notes. This morning, I used what I’d learned to write, what I think, was GREAT feedback for my parents/students. I noticed how excited I was during class to look for the things Ed mentioned in the book and that I was looking forward to pointing these things out to the parents/students!
I realized that even though I am a trained classroom teacher, I am not a (formally) trainer ESL teacher and there are definite differences in not only the way you teach these students, but in the skills that are important to point out, teach and nurture.
So thank you, Ed, for making such a great resource! I can honestly say that in one day it has already helped me become a better ESL teacher…now let’s see what it does for my feedback response.
