Description
I want this book to empower you to write feedback that parents will want to read. And you’ll pick up some tidbits on Chinese culture along the way.
After covering the principles I use to write useful feedback, I show you samples of how I word feedback in specific situations. I hope that this info will help you find your own unique voice and leave feedback that is useful, realistic, and inspiring. When you deliver an AMAZING experience both in the classroom and in the feedback box, parents tend to reciprocate with rave reviews.
I also have an Expanded Edition of this book, available here!

This book is a must-have for all VIP Kid teachers! If I ever start referring people, this will be my #1 piece of advice – Go get this book! Ed helps us find the right way to address concerns and offer compliments to students. This book will increase your parent feedback and help you to be a better teacher, overall! Thank you!

This FANTASTIC book made a tremendous difference in the way I teach English online. Ed talks about what parents want their children to learn in their classes. He also explains WHY these things are important. As a result, I take better notes during class. My feedback is more specific and meaningful. I’m getting great feedback from parents and lots of re-bookings. I’m most excited that I feel like my teaching is really making a difference for my students! Thank you, Ed!!

This book helped me understand what parents are looking for in feedback. Also, it helped me to understand some common troubles that I honestly did not realize that I needed to be correcting! For example, the short /I/ sound!! Wow! Among other things. I feel as though it’s made me more aware of everything my students are saying. As a result, it’s made me a better teacher. Thank you!

I like that this book gives me some options for changing up my feedback a bit. There are also some really helpful bits about the way specific words can translate, certain sounds that native- Chinese speakers have a hard time with, great examples of all kinds of feedback, etc. Thanks Ed!

Ed understands Chinese. But not just the language, he understands the Chinese mind, culture and person. He knows what are the challenges of writing numerous feedbacks daily and he can tell you how to do it respectfully, kindly and truthfully, all at the same time. His book is one that you will keep open in another tab as you write feedback for guidance and great wording. Best $10 investments if you are a virtual ESL teacher.

After reading and implementing the ideas in this book, my 5-Apple percentage is up to 55%! Even as a b&m teacher that is used to writing progress updates to parents, the insight into how things translate/will be viewed by a Chinese parent was invaluable. I cannot wait for the expanded edition!!

I know that your expanded version of your book is coming out soon, and I am beyond THRILLED! I just want to let you know how I appreciate your book so much! I literally just took some time to LAMINATE that sucker so it doesn’t get ruined. That puppy has made my feedback 10 X better, and my feedback percentage is higher than it has ever been. I continue to be a 5 apple teacher, but I’m getting more feedback from parents. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I have been applying it for about a month or so, and it literally has rocked my VIPKID world! Thank you for sharing your experience, knowledge, and blessing us with it! You are THE man! I literally sit and think about what I am doing, and WHY I am saying it, and HOW it will help my student and their parents. I couldn’t have done it without you!

This book is a game changer! It opened my eyes to a whole new world of feedback. Being constructive, genuine and thorough is important. Parents do not want recaps — they want real critiques that will help their child get closer to achieving English fluency. Ed’s book is an easy, interesting and helpful read. I finished it in one day and often refer to it. He has helped put words to things I struggled to articulate. Since using his methods and taking his advice, I often wake up to 5-7 new feedbacks daily! If you truly want to be successful, don’t buy all the orange shirts and a Dollar Tree props. BUY.THIS.BOOK. You will not regret it and parents will thank you.
